EASY HALLOWEEN MONSTER TREATS

Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays, BUT I still do love doing festive activities with my family or sending our favorite Halloween treats for our kids’ Halloween class parties. They’re easy to make and so yummy!

Let’s start with the ingredients you’ll need.

Easy Monster Treats ingredients

MONSTER TREATS

Wilton candy melts
Ingredients for rice krispy recipe
Wilton candy eyeballs
Melting butter on the stove.

Melt butter in saucepan on medium-low heat. Do NOT burn the butter. It’s better to go slow than too fast.

Add marshmallows

Add entire bag of large marshmallows.

Add vanilla extract to melted marshmallows.

Stir until marshmallows are melted, but not too done. You don’t want them to burn. Once melted, take off burner immediately and add vanilla extract.

Mix in rice krispies

Add 6 cups of rice krispies and stir quickly and thoroughly. Have pan ready to dump in.

Add butter to the spatula before forming treats.

Wash the spatula you were using, then butter the sides so that when you press the krispies down, nothing sticks.

Smash treats.
form edges of treats.

Tip: Slide the spatula tip into the edge and slightly bend down. Run the spatula along the edges so that the curvature of the spatula shapes the edges perfectly.

Perfect smooth edges! Let side and harden completely. Now for the fun part!

Put your chocolates and candies into small bowls and set out some wax paper.

Cut down the middle long ways, then cut into equal size rectangles to make your monsters. There is usually a section at the end that’s left…this is yours to eat as a reward 🙂

Set your monsters out on the wax paper. (Tip: If they are not completely hard yet, pop them in the freezer for just a few minutes. This will help them hold shape while you dip in the colored chocolate.)

Add about 3/4 of a bag to a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Take bowl out and stir bottom pieces to the top. Microwave for another 30 seconds and take out to stir. You want to give careful attention to stiring and microwaving only 30 seconds at a time to prevent burning. Usually after the second time of microwaving and stirring, I still need to microwave one last time for 30 seconds. Once I take them out to stir, set aside and start on the next bowl. Do not rush this process because burning your chocolate is a big bummer. All good things take patience 🙂

Dip the tip of your monster in each color and use a spoon to smear around and evenly coat. You won’t want too much chocolate because it is super sweet! But don’t make it TOO thin either 😉 Set on wax paper and immediately add candy eyes.

These make great treats for school parties or just a fun activity at home with your family. Here are a couple other ideas that we have also done that my kiddos and daycare littles love. Do you have any easy Halloween treats your family loves to make? Let me hear them!

Happy Halloween friends! Enjoy! xoxo
