SPRING CLEANING AND WELLNESS TIPS

Spring is HERE! What once was dormant, is now alive! Enter all the pollen. We didn’t get the blizzard I was hoping for this year so let’s just go ahead and move on with spring!

SPRING WELLNESS

Longer daylight and warmer temperatures are on the horizon, and so is pollen and windy days full of dust for us in Kansas. Here are a few spring wellness tips to think about.

Leave the shoes at the door.
In case they’ve picked up dust and pollen from outside, leave all shoes at the front door. Cuts down on dirty floors too!

The attack of pollen and dust.
Nothing is more annoying, ammiright? We use essential oils like crazy this time of year to get through. We start diffusing lemon, lavender, and peppermint first thing in the morning and put them in a roller to apply topically as well. More info on that here.

Start using your sunscreen.
Longer daylight hours means we’ll be outside more. It’s great for us to get some vitamin D, but don’t underestimate the effects of prolonged sun exposure. We use an all-natural sunscreen so we aren’t slathering our bodies in toxins.

Don’t neglect your sleep.
Longer daylight makes us feel like we’re not staying up later than usual. I set my watch to remind me every night at 8 pm it’s time to wind down for the evening. Your immune system still needs the sleep to recharge every night (kinda like our electronics do when we plug them in) so make sleep a priority no matter what time of year it is. Here’s how we support our family to get a good night’s sleep.

Get moving.
We’ve been hibernating inside with Netflix movies and winter comfort food so it’s time to go outside and enjoy the fresh air. A simple walk around the block or your local park is great to liven up your energy.

With spring officially here, we are going to start working in our garden! I can’t wait to start seeing our garden babies grow into yummy vegetables we get to enjoy all summer long. There’s nothing better than a fresh tomato out of our garden!
